The newer smartphones have this capabilty, so if u have one I don't think there is a need for anything else.

I have a motorola droid. An app came on it. "Navigation". Does turn by turn, maps everything u need imo.

blackberry has this as well....

although I do have a Garmin in the truck...if it's good enough for the military, it's good enough for me

Regular one. Garmin is the highest rated.

GPS apps are pretty pricey but mapquest has a free one. It has voice guidance with turn by turn directions. It's really good.

Garmin eTrex Legend...hand-held portable ideal for geocacheing, hiking, as well as travel - and additional maps can be downloaded via bit torrents. Used it for a few months and it is pretty good for a reasonable price.
