GPS vs. Rangefinder

I currently use a app on my iphone (gps) to get yardages. surprisingly it's pretty close. usually within 3 yds of the course markers. but it gives me front, center and back. to get the yardage to the pin takes some guess work. so i'm thinking about getting a rangefinder. anyone use a rangefinder? if so, what brand?

I have a Nikon and I love it. I use it to see distance between me and game. Its spot on and it fits easily into your pocket. I believe its what your looking for. I believe some golf carts are equiped with GPS no? But then that would mean riding vs walking. Keep chasing that white ball. GL

yes some carts have gps. this is actually better than a gps unit because i believe the course sets the distance to the current flag position and not the center of the green. but i want something that gives me the exact yardage to the pin on every course. i did a little more research on this. a rangefinder (some models) also account for slope which gives you a true yardage.

i looked at the nikons/callaway. they have good reviews. bushnell also has some high marks.

GSP is the UFC welterweight champion and probably the best or second best pound for pound fighter in the world. never even heard of this range finder guy but i think GSP kills him.

I would say Bushnell is prob the best but the phone apps work great if you know the pin placements for the day before going out

have been playing golf less then a year and am about a 20 handicap......don't think I am too worried about being off 7 or 8 yards.......would love for that to be an issue for me but not nearly good enough yet lol

I had this decision also. In the end I chose rangefinder. No yearly subscription fees, point click done. Exact yardages. I went with nikon 800(it measures 1/2 yardages to 400yds. Lol) callaway uses nikon just puts there name on it & a higher price. Wouldn't buy a slope edition b/c they are not allowed n any competitive tourneys. I ebayed.
