The Greatest Athlete That Phil Jackson Ever Coached

Phil Jackson: Rodman is the greatest athlete I've ever coached
By J.E. Skeets
Phil Jackson sure had plenty to say during a speech to the University of North Dakota as part of the convocation in which he received an honorary degree. Of the course of an hour, P-Jax criticized his school's nickname, told funny stories about Shaq swimming, and picked Dennis Rodman as the greatest athlete he ever coached. From the OC Register: "[Rodman] could probably play a 48-minute game and play the 48th minute stronger than the first minute of the game," Jackson told the crowd at UND. "He was that terrific an athlete." Video "proof," after the jump.

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Jackson's a nut bag (that's why he can deal with these guys). Rodman, please! He just didn't want to pick between Kobe and MJ.

actually you guys are missing the point, i know exactly what he means here.

During the Bulls run there were many a game rodman played the whole 48 and even during breaks/timeouts rode a stationary bicycle to keep his heart going. He by far has the greatest endurance I have ever seen on a basketball court. After some playoff games where he played the full 48 he came on TV saying how great he felt and that he was ready to go play another 48.

was he better than MJ or Kobe LOL of course not i agree with the above but i think he's pointing out that there are many similar great athletes and that one characteristic about rodman has stuck out for him in all that time

You take Rodman... I'll take MJ or Kobe. The question was greatest athlete -not who's in the best shape - not to mention playing guard is more strenuous than playing post.

true but the question was not who is the best basketball player, which would have gotten an automatic response.

the way rodman played it was definitely more strenuous than anybody else on his team or the league at the time

and yes i watched MJ and went to the games etc. Didn't say rodman had more heart than MJ, but he did play the hardest of anybody i ever saw
