Guns in universities...

...rofl, cant believe what i've just seen on the news. in Utah it's allowed to bring your guns to the university to defend yourself against 'suicide runners'?

a second later they show the govaneur (how to spell that ****ing word?) or some high official/secretary of georgia saying that he likes the idea and that he's going to do everything to get such a law in his state aswell...

wow, i can't wait for the news, that some policemen shoot innocent students, as they couldn't identify who's on rampage and who's defending himself... or was that news an entire joke?

i agree with guns on univeristies

nothing is gonna stop some crazed gunmen to come to school and shoot up a crowd, but he/she may be more reluctant now that students can carry guns

but you don't think that having guns in school may be bad?.. like in confrotations (fights), dude pulls out a gun.?

We've been trying for so long to stop people from bringing weapons and guns into schools, and now we are incouraging it? Thats just fuked up IMO

there was nothing to stop him from bringing a gun in the first place, if he was bringing a gun before, this policy won't affect him

lots of schools in america have metal detectors when walking into the school now adays, or so i've heard.. to stop this thing....

if they make a rule allowing it, more people will bring gungs to school knowing they cant get in any trouble for it.. and this is when the worse incidents may happen..

rather than guys having knifes in their pants, they'll have guns.. I don't know, maybe its just because im canadian and against guns in general.. but I just think its fuked up to incourage people to bring guns to a learning environment

colleges mostly offer no security in terms of metal detectors and what not

if you are in college, generally you have the rationale and character to avoid a confrontation involving a gun, but like i said, nothing can stop some nut from walking onto a campus and shooting people

at least making it apparent that some students may have guns serves as some resistance to a gunmen IMO

I assume everyone here understands this only applies to students who are licensed to carry a concealed weapon. It is still illegal for the vast majority of people on a college campus to carry a handgun. Only those students, teachers or employees who have passed the state's requirements to obtain a carry permit will be allowed to have a concealed weapon on campus.

This isnt going to encourage thugs to bring guns to school, those low lifes do so whether you outlaw it or not.

Now the law abiding student/teacher who is on campus for the right reasons can choose to arm and potentially defend themselves by going through the process of being state licensed to do so.

Prior to the passage of such laws, even people who have previously been licensed to carry were not permitted to do so on campus and the wacko, kill as many as I can, suicide driven, campus killers knew this was the case. You wont see anymore shooting rampages like the one at VirTech if campus members are allowed conceal and carry.
