Handicapping Odds and Ends that make you money
Handicapping Odds and Ends that make you money
By Tony George Sports Audio Shows It is that time of year, the football maniacs are wagering hard earned dollars all over the board both in the NCAA and NFL football ranks. The Underdogs have played a big part in the outcome of many games to date, and some real shockers have taken place and busted many an early bankroll, as off shore’s and Vegas Sportsbooks are making early profits this season. I make it a point to bring to everyone’s attention some do’s and do not’s to help your bankroll along in this volatile and young season. Do not forget about Baseball Handicapping 101 for Dummies here, Baseball is the easiest sport to win money at. Why do sportsbooks offer .20 lines in baseball, versus the old standard 11/10 odds on money lines you ask? Because smart players such as myself, (ranked 2nd in the USA to date), beat the living heck out of them in bases. The recreational sports bettor simply does not understand the money line, and find waiting on scores and watching 3 to 4 hour games boring, and the daily schedule of placing wagers tedious. Well, bad for you who feel that way, and good for the smart players and handicappers who clean up in Baseball. There are limited factors to handicap, the game is more controlled and it boils down to about 4 areas you need to look at. The big plus RIGHT NOW is the weekend’s, where the lines are loose because of the extreme emphasis on Football odds, so you get some real soft lines from time to time, and if you know your stuff, you can clean up. Look at turnover ratios in the NFL Another Handicapping 101 for you, turnovers and penalties determine the outcome of the vast majority of NFL Games. Special teams play a large part too, so be sure to analyze the kickers and return yards for and against the team you like. Look at the Rams on Monday night against Tampa Bay, 4 turnovers killed them and the hopes of bettors everywhere that thought they could get off the snide! How about the Vikings in week 2 against the Bills, missed field goals and 2 PAT’s, so guess what, that game is over, no overtime. I always look deep into the +/- turnover ratios in all games I handicap, especially in the NFL. 2 Team Teasers I subscribe to the flat betting technique of wagering, and avoid exotic wagers for the most part, but Teasers have value in the NFL. In the past 10 years the average margin of victory in the NFL is about 6 points per game. Oddsmakers will GIVE YOU those 6 points, on 2 teams in college or the NFL for 10/11 odds. That means an extra 6 points on your 2 selections. Give any pro capper, or experienced sports bettor an extra 12 points on a Sunday, and they will win money. I have taken advantage of this for years and have made thousands. Many times I lose a straight up play by a ½ point or 1 point. When you also tease that play and get the added points, it minimizes your losses and maximizes your profits. Find an off shore book that has 10/11 odds on teasers and cash in. NFL home dogs are always worth a look with an added 6 points. Less is More I found a service the other day that had over 900 plays so far this season in baseball. Are you kidding me? Your clients are broke before they got started, and so was he! In week 3 I had 1 play in the NFL, a 3 Unit play on the Eagles –9, and they won 44-13 for a 3-unit winner. I actually had clients complaining there were not more plays to wager! Wake up everyone, in handicapping less is more, bar none. I would rather be on 3, maybe 4 games, for the entire weekend versus 8 or 9. With that many plays and selections you have just given the house the edge, because you have increased your chances of losing versus winning. Wager smart, limit your plays to 3 or 4 games you REALLY like, versus the ones on TV you simply want action on to add excitement to your day. I get excited nailing big plays and making money, not watching TV games that are hyped and touted by every big loud mouth so called capper in the world. That’s not to say I do not wager the Florida’s and Michigan’s, but the lines are sharp on big games because of the action they receive. Use these simple and basic facts to increase your bankroll and sharpen your skills, or have a Service that knows the value in basic handicapping.
