Happy 45th birthday, Slash!

Slash was born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, to artistic parents both involved in the entertainment industry; his mother was a clothing designer who worked on David Bowie's film The Man Who Fell to Earth, and his father designed album art for such artists as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. The family eventually moved to Hollywood, where Hudson attended junior high, received his first guitar, and met future GNR drummer Steven Adler. With Hudson adopting the nickname Slash, given to him by a family friend, the two formed a band called Road Crew; although it proved unsuccessful, it was the vehicle through which they met and eventually joined up with the other members of Guns N' Roses.

Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman's 43rd birthday today.

Hard to believe he's 2 years younger than Slash.

Slash's new CD is pretty cool. Ever read his book? It's awesome. I like Slash.

I love his new CD, especially the two songs with Fergie. That bitch rips it up.

That's her on Paradise City right? It started kinda rap-ish, but when she kicks in it'll send chills!!

Yep that's her, I think it is Cypress Hill at the beginning. She is on Beautiful Dangerous too. She really rips it up in that song.

Slash is, in my humble opinion, an extremely UNDERRATED guitarist. I think he may get downgraded by some as simply a "metal guitarist" (not saying it's true, just that is how he is perceived), but you could make a case for him being in the top 5 all time (behind, in no particular order, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix and Page).

PLUS, he's Jewish

LOL

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

Slash is very good for what he does but he is nowhere near the top 5. But I do love to hear him play

Not sure what you mean here mikkii. Don't need to read Guitar Player magazine to know how good Slash is.

I guess its all relative, but I would put several ahead of him mainly because I like their music more, not because they might be more skillfull. Warren Haynes, Duane Allman just to name two. And trust me I in know way was trashing slash he is awesome
