Has a team ever fired a coach then brought them back?

Cause I think Maryland should reconsider and bring Friedgen back.

Billy Martin was brought back several times by the Yankees. Still surprised to see Friedgen got fired. Maryland might be making same mistake Gophers made with Mason.

Raiders hired Art Shell as coach twice. Skins hired Joe Gibbs twice.

But all of those with the exception of maybe one Billy Martin episode, all these coaches were brought back after time for another shot.

I don't think that anyone like this case has been fired and then they just changed their mind. (maybe billy once)

Roger Neilson was fired by the Make Me Laughs in 1979 and then was brought back in to coach the next game.

In 1979, Neilson was actually fired as head coach of the Maple Leafs by then-owner Harold Ballard. There was outrage throughout the players, media, and general public. Ballard then relented. Ballard wanted Neilson to enter the next game with a paper bag over his head (to be "the mystery coach") but Neilson refused and coached the next game as if nothing had happened.

None of us know or will ever know the full story about Ralph's dismissal. That being said Karma is a bitch. Typically when something like this happens, the program is screwed for a few years. Of course no AD or administration will ever say they made a mistake.

Ask Tennessee how life has been since Fulmer......
