Hasnt been a good week or so.....

It has been a bittersweet couple of weeks. My daughter married a very good man on July 21st. Couldnt be happier for her and very happy with the family she married in to. 2 soul mates who are surrounded by great families.

On the 28th, we got a call from my wife's Dad at 8 am our time, 3 am his time in Hawaii. He has been undergoing chemo treatments for about 2 years with a couple of short breaks from treatment. He hasnt really been up front with us about his condition, one of those who doesnt want to burden others. My wife is his only child and on the 28th he finally gave us alittle "truth" about his condition. He called to tell us they were stopping treatments and recommending home hospice care. He still wont give us specifics about what the final prognosis is or how long he has.

Today, got a call abot 3:30pm from my mom. My brother went to the hospital for a kidney stone. When they were doing the MRI scans, doctors said they found irregularities in his lungs. Most they have said is they "think" they are lung nodules but wouldnt confirm that yet. My brother is one of those who always thinks the worst when it comes to his health, you know the kind that panics when he feels the slighest chest pain. I left right away to see him and he was a basket case when UI arrived and then again later when my parents arrived.

From what I have been able to read in the last hour, if it is just lung nodules then there are all kinds of possibilites as far as a final diagnosis is concerned, ranging from very bad to nothing significant. He is only 47 and is thinking its the big C. Not knowing is the tough paty right now. Supposed to run more tests, thats why I left today, and more tomorrow.

My daughter's wedding was a blessed event and recent improvements in my Mom's health have been a blessing as well. Now we have these 2 trials to go through. My wife and kids are very strong in their faith. I believe my Father in-law is reaching out to my wife as he has seen how we live our lives. My brother did the same thing when I went to see him today. I would appreciate having those of you who feel lead to keep my wife and her Dad, as well as my brother and Mom in your prayers. It would certainly mean alot to us.

GK, Gator, Tom, Seanie, Dave and Kellos...I appreciate your encouragement. I am alittle spastic right now but otherwise doing better than I thought I would. I have alot of other poeple who are more directly affected by this. We will get through and believe for the best at all times.
