Have had a couple of indepth discussions with bookmakers....

Lately. Both have prominent bookmaking roles at large sportsbooks. Interesting conversation just thought I would share some stuff that they both agreed on not direct quotes but have summed up their thoughts in a sentence or two :

Some of their thoughts on......

*Corruption in the NBA ?

Very little or virtually none. Based on betting patterns and the fact that players are paid so much. Officiating = Incompetence not corruption.

*Free sites that offer public % numbers ?

For the most part bogus and not to be believed, one of them had, had direct experience with a few of them.

Sport highest with corruption now ?

TENNIS number 1 right now.

Why don't US based books take golf 3 ball betting like European books ?

They have never understood deadheat rules. Sharp huh ?

How are the Home and Away spreads set for the MLB and NHL I've noticed they are often disproportionate the the ML parlay total of the respective home or away lines, so u use some sort of system ?

No system. We just pair off the RL's or PL's against each other. Thats pretty much how we do it.

Neteller for non US people ?

Fine no problems at all to keep using them.

Tell me more about the sharps that move lines in US sports ?

2-3 crews that operate that are largely responsible for US sports lines moves.

How many in these crews and how do u get in ?

Varies from the time of year 10-20. Usually a case of who you know.

If they are so good as people claim then why do books still take their action ?

Egos of the books and sometimes they use beards (disguise measures).

Just a quick outline of some of the conversations again these don't represent my views but those of the Bookmakers I've been talking to.

I actually made a small WD recently just to test the waters and no problem with it. JMO but I think its business as usual for non US clients right now.

I would've expected your friends to say....."There is NO corruption in sports."

Are your friends implying that corruption only occurs in sports where the players are paid the least amount??

David Stern agreed to have the NBA All-Star game in Vegas this year IF the Vegas books agreed NOT to post a line on the game. I would say that is a clear indication that there is corruption in the NBA.

Sure, the players make tons of money, but yet, whenever they make any personal appearances, they still ask for a fee.

Next time, ask about corruption in SOCCER.
