Have you ever welched on a bet/stiffed a bookie?

Let's not turn this into a basement style name calling thread, just wondered what people's opinions are on this sort of thing......

I have cheated at pool, cheated at cards, and tried to back out of bar bets before (very cunt-ish, I know), but am proud to say that I have never stiffed anyone, or not paid up when I knowingly lost a wager.......I have experience with people not paying for fantasy leagues, turning their phones off when they lose bets, or losing card games and not being able to cover their losses....to me there is nothing worse.....no one is forcing you to make the wagers or play for the stakes, if you can't or won't cover it, be a man and sit on the sidelines........

Never stiffed on a bet or stiffed a bookie! I treat people the way I want to be treated, but if you screw me over once I don`t know you no more!

I know I stole candy when I was young, some hockey cards, but that's about all that I can remember.

i have been stiffed by an online book when I was 18 before I knew bout solid A and B books.. turns out I was playing at a F- book LOL.. hilarious but losing 30K isnt.

as far as me stiffing no-way.. but i have had a bookie extend me a week and i made back 500 down the next week. so i guess i stiffed for a week. lol but our payments were only on up or down 400 so it wasnt too much over the 400 mark.

I stiffed the local bookie. He had Ne -3' against Indy, I bought a half to make ne -3. I get a call around end of 1st quarter from him saying line moved to 4 and you can only buy points if the original line is a half number so my new line was -4. NE won by 4 and I would have been down 85 bucks at -3 but ended up down 585 with the push. I told him I would pay the 85 but as far as i was concerned i won my ne bet and wasnt paying a cent more. He wouldnt accept the 85 he wanted it all. I told him to f off. In my opinion i wasnt the one stiffing anyone. I think what he was doing was waiting till all bets came in right before game start so he could scam his boss on the juice, not my problem!

Haven't found a female local, but had I found her before I got married, I probably would have "stiffed" her.

win or lose, that would have been my last wager with that bookie. And you were right for not paying the $$$ you had rightfully won. You placed the bet. He took the bet. The fact that the line subsequently moved has no effect on that.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

I got stiffed when BetonSports went busto a couple years ago

I have always paid when I lost although like someone above said even if took extra time or a few payments it was always paid in full

Don't think I could ever welch but I have been slow paid and welched on NUMEROUS times on bets won with locals, acquaintences, co-workers, etc.

Life is too short and after all it is only money

But BetonSports can kiss my ass

I used to have 2 locals until one stiffed me for a dime. To this day, I haven't seen the guy again. He vanished off the face of the earth. My other local who I've been with for 10 years is solid. A few years ago he was in a bad accident. I owed him a little over a dime. 4 months go by and I never hear from him. All of a sudden I get a call from him asking if we can settle up. I paid him that night.......

yes I slow paid Romanowski, I've slow paid twice in my life, but not a full blown stiff. I learned my lesson and won't ever let it happen again. I post up now with sports books and even posted up with my agent. Got stiffed this year by an agent for $1000, nothing I could really do about it, part of the game.
