Horse Drops Dead On Bourbon Street

Just saw this on the local news after the game:

Horse Drops Dead On Bourbon Street

SPCA Looking For Equine Vet To Determine Cause Of Death

NEW ORLEANS -- A horse pulling a rickshaw died on Bourbon Street early Sunday afternoon, police said.

The state's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said they received a call about 2 p.m. that a horse had passed out in the French Quarter.

But by the time an official arrived at the scene, the horse had died, Louisiana SPCA spokeswoman Katherine LeBlanc said

New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Frank Robertson III said officers were with the owner when the horse died.

LeBlanc said the rickshaw the horse was pulling was not for commercial or tourism purposes, and she was not aware of the owner being ticketed.

The SPCA said it is trying to find an equine veterinarian who can determine the horse's cause of death and whether it was related to animal cruelty.

I think the bigger story is the spca is looking for an equine vet, you'd think they'd already have a guy, is this the first horse that ever died in Louisiana?
