on week 3 of the 09/10 nfl season, i was invited to a friends to watch football. when i got there, everybody was talking football and going over a sheet of paper. i asked what they were doing, and they said they were going over the lines and getting their bets together.

i though i could pick some winners. that didnt go as planned, i lost $700 and some change that day..... i lost a couple of bets on the early games, then thought i would double up my bets to "get my money back", lol. i knew absolutly nothing about sportsbetting, or handicapping at that time.

after kicking myself in the ass for trying to dive into something i knew nothing about, i searched the internet for somewhere to learn how to cap games. i forget exactly what i searched for, but that search lead me to the mall. at the time, i looked at everybodys picks, and figured out who knew what they were doing. i focused on those posters and tried to figure out why they were picking the plays that they were. some were easier than others, but i started to get a feel for what games had an edge.

i didnt bet another nfl game that season, i tried to put together a card every week just to see if i was learning correctly without mistakes costing me money. i was somewhat confident in my picks by the end of the season. i applied my newly found skills to some basketball games in march of 2010, and made some coin, so i was happy.

last season, i put my skills and $ to the test and came out ahead of the book, so i think i picked it up pretty well. i know most people on here have been doing this for years, and i know i have a ton more to learn. but the mall is where i got my handicapping education, maybe not in a conventional manner, but it seems to be working.

Back in 2004 there weren't a lot of sites that gave free picks from people. My buddy found this site and told me about it.

I had always been active on a now defunct horse racing board, but by nature am fascinated by numbers/trends/streaks... so sports seemed the next logical conquest.

I did a web search and landed here... I have tried out about 6 different sports/racing forums in total and found that I like it here the best... lots of interaction in both the sports and off-topic areas, contests, and a real community feel.

My old boss used to bet through me, and he originally found it. I lurked for several years, used the site for service picks, etc. Slowly started posting occasionally, enjoy most of the analysis here.

This is the only site I have ever posted on, great place overall. Love all of the contests, have won several over the years and always been paid very promptly. Even in the Pick 5 this year testing my skills against some great cappers around here.

I am a big golf fan also, so enjoy that portion of the forum and the people that post down there. Usually a contest every weekend to make things a little more interesting. Used to be a hardcore gambler/bookie, but a wife and kid changes that quick. Play very lightly now, more for fun than anything......this site helps keep my interest without betting my bank account to get it all back on Hawaii Saturday night at midnight!!
