slow your swing down and keep the club head as close to the ground as possible in your back stroke

Darrel,
If your just getting started, spend about 300 bucks and get a Ping G2 or g5
driver. I've played for 20 years and it is absolutely the easiest driver to hit I've ever experienced. And its long. I've had a g2 for a couple of years and I'm hitting a ton more fairways and no more chickening out useing my 3 wood all the time. i'm a 10 handicap and was a 15 before I improved my driving.

hope this helps, golf is a great game!

Used to be able to get it right out there. At driving ranges people esp children would stop and watch me. Used to be 340 regularly.

Now I'm around 300.

230...260 on a good drive.

Never really worked the game out but still loved playing it. Should have got some proper coaching when I was younger cause I should be able to hit 300+ Never was able to shake that slice lol. Haven't had a game in over 2 years now.

260-280...............distance doesn't mean much in golf..............when i taught, i'd get golfers who had a $500 driver in their bag, and a $20 putter......i'd always ask why they would spend $500 on a club you might hit 4-6 times a round rather than a club you hit 25-35 times a round............drive for show, putt for dough................darrel, give me a link to the avatar

exactly. I was the shortest driver in my class when i was in Golf Management school. I am hitting around 260-280 as well. But my i'd rather be in the fairway than out in the woods and i would rather have solid putting than distance. Distance gets you only so far, its nice to have but if you can't put the ball in the whole, you're screwed. I know tons of guys who launch it, but their short game were brutal, and its funny how the shorter distant players in the PGA tour have amazing short games. Corey Pavin couldn't hit crap but damn was he a wizard around the greens.

Don't diss the $20 dollar putter! I had a buddy who traded his Ping putter for a crapshoot flat stick made in the 80s that he traded for $2 and just finds the cup like mad. He was putting like Goosen with it.
