How To Install A Security System

1. Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used

size 14-16 work boots.
2. Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine.
3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.
4. Leave a note on your door that reads:
Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went for more ammunition.

Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls-- they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad.

I don't think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.

Actually you are better off not having these stickers and signs, the new way of doing things when your house is the house they are interested in is actually having you home because they think you have a security system and will have it off when you are at home. They simply knock on your door, someone in your family answers the door and they point a gun right at you.

I did alot of consulting work for a security company a few years ago and this trend had just started to happen and has increased since. If you don't have a security system you are better off not trying to fool them with fake stickers and lawn signs and if you do have a security system always have at least the doors on and if you answer the door don't turn the system off until you know who is at the door, this way if it is a criminal when they make you turn the system off you can punch in your panic code letting the security operator know this is a duress incident and they will contact police immediately.

It makes sense, logically. However

Violent home invasions aren't as common as burlary. I would assume

Criminals dont like people around, to easy to get Id'd. If someone is coming to your house to rob you with a gun, it's probably because you are a drug dealer or Bookmaker and they KNOW you have stuff in the house.

I live in Philly and we have a ton of violence. EVERYTIME you hear of a violent home invasion involving weapons, drugs are involved. Most burglars "scope the joint" and wait for you to leave.

Burglars dont really use weapons, they dont have too.

on another note, we use to get solicitation calls from a "security" company when I was a kid. When they first got popular in residential settings.
..
My mom would answer the phone like this...

"Hello? No, I dont need a security system my husband is a cop and we have 2 dogs"

That was the OLD way of scoping out houses without security. Mom dukes played it pretty cool IMO
