How Much Do You Spend On Your Car Per Month?

HOW MUCH A MONTH DO YOU SPEND/ month ON YOUR CAR ?

KRAMER :

2001 SEBRING
BOUGHT 1 YEAR OLD $ 18,000
NOW 2008
MAYBE LAST TO 2011
10YEARS

18000/10= 1800/YR / 12 = 150 / MO
INSURANCE :

AVG = $ 150 / MO

MONTHLY PARKING AT WORK = $ 100
GAS " 60/WEEK = $240
SO FAR : $490
OIL CHANGES :AVG $ 30 X 4 = $ 120/MO

$ 630

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

GUESSING ABOUT 4 G’S OVER 7 YRS
breaks twice ,
shocks ,
new battery , ball bearings
new tires

=$571/YR/12 = $ 50 / MO
TOTAL = $ 680
Gas = $240 , rest $440

Is Gas really that expensive compared to rest of your car ?
Thoughts ?

use my parents cars..we have two gas guzzlers though -caddy STS and land rover discovery , i pay $100 extra onto their insurance per month, reality is that it costs about 130 extra... they pay the 30.... plus the god damn premium gas (1.40ish now) .... about $200+ per month in gas from my pocket... so...about $300/month...

if i got my own car, it'd be $150-180/mo ins......regular gas with better milage, estimating about $120/mo in gas... = $300, or less.... am I surprised? I'm working on getting my own car..... parts and labour is free for us, as we either do our own labour, or one of my dads buddies does it free, my dad gets parts at cost, usually chartable to his work, or free sometimes. the real costs are with labour, which is free!

Spending over $1000 a month on gas for my vehicle. I imagine this months bill will be more now that the lowest gas in my area is $4.37 a gallon. Drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra and the only other cost I have is maintenance and a $300 pickup payment.

got a good deal on my existing car. im in the process of getting a new one. got my current one when i got my job right after school.
$250/mo + 800/yr insurance + $150/mo in gas.

working on a deal. gonna get a 328xi or a 335xi. either way im probably doubling my payments, insurance is only 60 more a year. gas will be about 225/mo now since i'll be using premium.

as far as maintenance. i detail my car myself, and i do my own oil changes, tire changes, etc. only get a alignment and rotation once a year (about 80 bucks).

That is so amazing to me that people in the larger cities like NY and Chicago might not have a vehicle............I couldn't imagine one without one.....What do you do if you wanted to travel around the state for some reason?

Before I bought a car I just rented whenever I needed to, it was a helluva lot cheaper, but now I wouldn't want to go back to carless ever again. Love the freedom too much.
