How much do you tip a good server?

Assuming that you have decent service at a standard restaurant (not fine dining), what amount of tip do you give?

ummm, where is 20 and then 20+ percent.....who doesnt tip 15+%
i would have thought you would start this at 10% and go to 30%

i dont think ive ever tipped 0-15 percent. if i did that here in downtown chicago i would be stabbed in the neck

i posted 0 percent-never...but sometimes i do...the one bar i go to i get hooked up with free shit so i give them a few bucks which then equals out to what my bill would be most of the time

15% minimum. you have to suck pretty bad for me to tip less than 15, but even then it would be 10. i have friends that have no problem leaving a penny (literally) if the server was a dick

There is use to be an old adage you tip what the tax is & here in Toronto, it was 15% at one point & thats what we all did. IT always seemed to work and was the customary percentage to do.

In a restaurant I'll usually tip the standard 15% or slightly more for better service i.e making sure I always have a full glass of coke or not disappearing for a long stretch of time. I dont expect much.

At a bar if I'm not running a tab I'll tip $1 per drink/bottle of beer. If I'm running a tab $5 if the waitress blows and more likely $10 or $15 if I like/know her and shes always making sure I have a cold beer or flirty.

At a casino while I play poker/blackjack I prefer to tip after I am done playing and only when I win. I'm not a fan of tipping while I am playing because who knows what I can get done with the money I give away before I finish and if I lose well thats self explanatory. If I do pretty well say for instance make $500 I'll tip $25.

I'm sure nobody is gonna ever say damn he gave me a huge tip but I doubt I'll ever get told off after I leave either.

I once tipped $100 Canadian in Windsor after I won 6k Canadian. Prolly the biggest tip I ever gave if memory serves me correctly.
