depends on what you are doing, i got a mobile... and i use it basically to surf on the net, book bets and use excel

i think the ram for XP would be enought, still i got 1024

if you wanna edit videos and play high end shooter games, you surely need more

I bought one of those Clevo laptops, they are by far the best i've ever scene or had, 20" screen, cool for watching live sport and playing games. My Desktop has 512 Ram, which pretty much does the job. Computers frequently update quickly so, 2 years of high tech stuff becomes old.

By the way, having wireless internet will can eat your wallet alive, if your not careful. If you like watching games on the net, don't get it. I racked up my optus bill, really high from watching Ice hockey.

does your inet provider charge you something like by the minute or by the amount of information that is transmitted?

5 gig for $50 per month and if you go over its an additional 20c per MB. Try watching live streams of soccer, NHL, NBA, on a 5 gig plan. Its not good, you'll run up your bill quickly. That was with 3 mobile, not optus, forgot.

my isp gives 10 gig per day, and the closer i come to the 10 gig, the slower the inet connection gets... and from 12PM till 8AM i got unlimited traffic

100 Mbits ... and everything for *drumwhirl* 5,50€ per month... got bless cz entering the union... their dumping prices ruin the business

solid brag? or any1 can offer better conditions?

I definitely agree with that. There is no such thing as too much. I have 1GB now and on my next machine will start at atleast 2GB.

if you have vista 1GB is fine, anything more is superfluous IMO, unless you are trying to run your own server for whatever reason

I have 512 GB running XP and I never have any problems

I'm usually writing, watching streaming tv, yahoo IM, downloading, and searching the internet at same time, no problems
