The How MUCH are you UP or DOWN for the season thread.

i gotta learn to gamble with my head and stop chasing, that's the killer for me. when i just put in my picks for the day and let it right, i will come out on top in the long run. it's just that i always wants to chase when i get a loss. FUK ME!

Your gonna get a lot of lyin bastards saying some crazy shit on this topic....I get caught up in that myself---I will be disciplined and bet the way Im spose to...then I will get crazy and put 500-800 on one game----and then get pissed the next day when my bankroll is gone...I win a lot more than I lose, but I get caught up in the action and it goes to hell- I have a lot of respect for guys that dont get caught up in ot and still bet x amount of their bankroll

wildkat, my exact problem. though i don't bet as much as you do. i am still sane at this point not to go too deep into my bank account to fund this "hobby". ya, i wish i could develop that discipline. i just did a small reload through my online book. hopefully i can stick to being strict this time around....ya right =/

The best bankroll management tool is the Kelly criterion. It says to take your % advantage and use that to bet the % of your bankroll. So, let's say I hit 61% consistently, then I should bet 6% of my bankroll on a play. I personally use half of a Kelly in my trading and sportscasting to reduce variance. Don't try to get rich quick, just go for consistent small increases in your roll.

At the end of the calendar yr, I was down 7%. I had 3 weeks of bad nfl losses which took me to about a 35% loss but made it back with stellar ml picks and fading Lang. I'm now at a 2% loss, fading langs picks. Hoping golf and NCAA hoops put me over the top.

I play 5% of my account currently on each wager. Sometimes 10. But now I play max 3 games a day.

1. Keep track of every bet. (You can see good patterns/especially in losses)
2. Take out profits whenever possible. (Always can put it back in)
3. Don't chase. (Ever!/Most of chases are guesses on games when down big)
4. Don't bet on the online casino. (Never a Great Idea)

I lost a lot of money 2 weeks ago, you just got to let those weeks go (I stopped betting sports Friday that week) and start fresh the next week. No one is perfect, I sure am not. We all lose games, just try to minimize the money aspect as best as possible.
