How would you use $17,000 loan @ 1.34% for 18 months?

I got this offer from Cap-One credit card last month. It has a 2% up front fee but then zero interest for 18 months. My only debt is home mortgage which is tied into a life insurance policy so it's paid off if I die before 2030 so I do not want to pay it down. Offer expires July 10.

Possible ideas:

1a Buy a solid stock like Southern Co. (SO) that pays 4% dividend but may go down in per share cost. Banks about $500.00

1b Buy neighbors vacant lot next door to insure privacy.
Items 1 are boring.

2 Find a -1700 event and bet it all. But think App State vs. Mich was ~ ML pk -3300.

3 Wait for a ML on;

Sep. 2, 2017
11:00 AM
159 Kent State
+38-110

Current limit 1K USD NO PARLAY
160 Clemson
-38-110

Then bet Clemson @ ML (guessing -3800) as 38 point favs.

3 Your ideas?

Hhmm, parts of that look good. Been a while since I've been to Vegas. I could easily pay back @ $1000/month.

I do not need either of these options, but thanks for the thought.

crypto money does not fit well.

Nov 1, 2012 POTUS was a -900 bet to reelect. I'm looking for a lock bet like that.

July 10 came and went but I had no sure thing.

If someone had said around July 4

"NASDEX is in a pullback @ 5598, you can buy low to sell high!"

With an additional $17,000 in my futures account, I would have had over 25,000. At that level TdAmeritrade allows 1/4X margin. Meaning if the /NQU7
Sep 2017 NASDEX $20 contract is $4400. I could buy 4 contracts with $4400. or 1 contract for $1100.

or day trade 20 contracts. At $20/point that is 20X$20=$400 per point of /NQU7 which is now 5898 so a 300 point rise.

Do the math; $400X300=$120,000 @ $340 up front fee.

Woulda, Shoulda and Coulda doubts. In April 2001 I had just sold my biotech stock for $300,000. My #@*& Amazon account keeps telling me "Member since 1997". If I bought their stock, it would now be over $120 million. Woulda, Shoulda and Coulda stopped me. AMZN was not making a profit then.

New offer today must decide before Aug 11. Same 2% fee.

What now? Stock market might pullback.

Use a few thousand of it to enter a couple entries into each of the football contests here at Cappersmall hoping to earn enough to cover the entire loan.

Winning the $500 survivor pool should suffice.

Why risk it. Looks like you've done pretty good with some of the investments posted at cm.

I'm not even sure what the +150 9.5 bet is? I am not taking a +467 longshot.

Actually the thread states "how would you".

I wouldnt risk 17k unless it was 5% of my betting bankroll, which its not.

But for my biggest bets no more than 5% of my betting bankroll i usually save them for my best sports. Eg. Rugby union.

Good advice. I am buying the neighbor's vacant lot to insure privacy. Not making any more land on the lake.

The end of thread.
