I usually head to my brothers house in Alabama for these things, but this one may go over his house if it moves towards western edge of track. Ex just picked up kids for her weekend and will keep them thru end of storm, I just went and picked up 3 18 packs of beer.

I've seen some crazy shit over the last few days. Part of my decision to stay was based on my gas experience the other day. I go out to look for gas at 4:30 A.M. and everyone that's open are out, I find a station where people are just starting to line up so I pull in and get 2nd in line, the line quickly turns to about 50 cars lined up down the street. The owner tells us the gas truck will be there at about 6, around 7 he tells us the truck is filling up in FT Lauderale about 40 miles away so we figure we've been waiting over 2 hours so we might as well wait another 2. At 9 we're told it won't be until after 12 and all hell breaks loose. People screaming at the people who work there, a huge black lady upwards of 300 lbs and this small redneck guy in the 150lb range are ready to come to blows. A bunch of people got in the middle and broke it up, it would've been pretty funny. So in the end I figured why try to navigate 600 miles with no gas available and not knowing where the storm is headed.

Gas is out all around my house, some stations have it but defintely hit and miss. And I live off the beaten path.

Coming home from my boys football game last night at midnight, there was a steady stream of traffic headed north on 301 out of Ocala. I was like damn, I did not think there was that many people at the game. Then it dawned on me there wasnt and it was people evacuating. Midnight on 301 north of Ocala is usually deserted at midnight, but it was tailights as far as I could see, and headlights in rear view as far as I could see. Maybe 1 vehicle every mile headed south.

Too late now if its not.

Looks like storm is going West. Best guess is just a really bad long thunderstorm up this way. But if it hits east coast could be trouble. I would be more worried about flooding than wind in Jax by the river. pretty low down there.

-35000 that happens if in Naples. Power crews will not even start working until Monday morning at earliest. If in a highly populated area, I would say minimum time without power will be 1 day. If in a rural area like I am, I was without power 10 days on Charlie. Good luck, and hope it stays on for you.

Couple tips for those in hurricane path:

Fill up all your coolers with ice. Put perishables in them that you can consume withing next couple days. Dedicate one cooler to drinks. That one will be opened the most.

Turn your refridgerator or freezer down to the lowest setting. Definitely your freezer. Once you lose power, do not open your freezer for two days. Make sure you have freezer completely full. Water jugs work to take up space. Freezer should keep stuff frozen for two days if you do not open it. Fridge good for about 4 hours. So take all the stuff out of your fridge and get it in cooler.

Take a shower before first bands start to hit, maybe the last one you have for a few days.

Have all laundry and dishes done.

Turn down ac in house as cold as you can get it when winds start to hit, keep doors and windows shut, there is no need to go outside.

Fill up your bathtubs with water. Makes flushing a toilet easier when you have no water for a couple days. Fill up any five gallon buckets you have with water.

Charge up your cell phone all the way, and have some offline games. Not much else to do when cell towers are down and wind is ripping at 70 mph and it is pitch ass black outside.

Top off with gas, watch the storm to see when it will hit and try to get gas a few hours before it hits, same with ice. If you have a cooler and its not full of ice, then you are messing up. Keep the cooler lids closed.

Stock up on beer. Not much else to do without power.

Stay safe, and hopefully it is not too bad.

Watching CNN... some guy in the background yelled out "fuck her right in the pussy". Little do they know that the reporter was talking to Anderson Cooper.
