Red face I am not Tim the Toolman

But this weekend was hell. Listen to this.

Many of you know we suffered some damage in the hurricane last year. Well everything has been on hold and nothing has been getting fixed. I finally had someone fix most of my roof but still lots of cosmetic (fences, decking, etc) have not been done.

Well I am not Bob the builder but I decided “screw it”, I am going to fix my deck this weekend.

Well it started okay. I had to pull off the leftover boards that did not get blown away from the storm. Within 5 minutes I hammered the crap out of my finger. It’s like 5x the size swollen now. But wait it gets better.

I go to the hardware store and I need 48 boards. I get them in my truck (that was a job itself) and I get home, unload them all and take a break. When I go start back up – I realize I bought the wrong boards. SO I have to reload them all in my truck and take them back.

Okay after cussing and loading them all back in my truck – I was trying to get back in my driveway and I hit my outside AC unit. It’s still working but the body frame itself is pretty messed up. Okay I can live with it.

I drive back to the store and just as I pass the intersection and go over a bump and boom – the boards all go flying out of the back of my truck. Luckily no accidents or anyone hurt – but I had to get out in the middle of the street and quickly load all these boards back in my truck. I get them all back in the truck and continue on to the store. I have to unload them all again to return them and then go get the right size boards. Of course they don’t have any. 3 stores later and still no boards.

Finally found the board – I got them all in my truck, drove safely home and while unloading them – I drop like a pack (4 of them) on my toe and busted my toe. The story ends here. I have a lot of wood but no deck. Lol

So do I wait for the experts? Or do I finish up myself and risk more adventure, injuries and disaster!

This was one of the most frustrating Saturdays (weekends) I have experienced and figured I would share it with the mall!

Wow...sounds like nothing went right...I would go for finishing the deck. At least that way all the suffering you went through on sat will have been for a reason, you'll save money and you'll have a sense of acomplishment (assuming you finish...lol)

The hard part is over.Continue and finish it yourself. You will feel good about the finished deck and you can say you built it.

I can think of several verbs to describe what I was doing and laughing was not one of them.

A funny part of the story I left out is - one of our neighbors (they are foreign), (only pointing this out because it's a fact and they don't speak great english), but they asked my other neighbor (a good friend) why I say "mother ****er" so much?

LMAO - I was embarassed because I don't usually do that in public but hearing that was kind of funny (to me only and not the wife)

This is one of if not the funniest stories i have ever read.LMAO!!! If I saw it in a movie I would have said no way that could ever really happen!!!!!

You have to finish it now or all of those injuries will be in vain. It will just makes the story of the deck so much better. You might want to find someone else to cut the wood for you though if you like having ten fingers that is.LMAO!!
