If you think you are having a bad day......
Spare a thought for this guy.....80 years for that? WTF
November 22, 2011 A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for trying to buy movie theater hot dogs with counterfeit cash. Charles Cleveland Nowden was sentenced Friday, two days after being convicted of forgery. Two years ago Nowden used a fake $20 bill when trying to buy hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks at a Mansfield movie theater. Prosecutors say after his arrest, a police officer found more counterfeit bills worth $120 tucked into a wrapper of one of the hot dogs. Prosecutors presented evidence about other theft cases pending against the 48-year-old in Tarrant and Lamar counties, including being linked by DNA to the theft of an 18-wheeler in 2010.

That seems like an awful lot for carrying that. He must have some serious priors for him to be subjected to a penalty like that.
On another note this is the 2nd time this past week that I've heard of someone counterfeiting. Times are getting tough... |

Counterfeiting is a very serious federal offense no matter what country. If I could get away with it I'd forge in my basement no question. There's no way out of this one. Just as bad is literally burning banknotes.

I knew a guy that counterfeited 20's about 15 or 20 years ago. He bought his paper at an office supply store back when they used to sell a linen blend that was very similar to that used in US money. (His case prompted the removal of that paper from the shelves.) He was a bit of a computer nerd, and he had a high-end printer back when not many people even really had computers.
He counterfeited about $80,000 in 20's. Feds caught on to him, busted him, and found his computer and most of the fake bills in his apartment. No way to deny it. He did only 2 years in federal prison. I think he said they sent him to one in Alabama.
