This Imus thing is the most overblown crap in the history of sports.

I dont think that what imus said was racial but thats a different story. Actually having a news conference on espn news has to be a new low for the network.

The minority athlete drives the three major sports, plus golf, boxing and track. ESPN survives off the popularity of these sports. Imus insulted a major portion of this group. And you think they do not have a responsibility to report this?

Then again, they could show more highlights of the Pirates game, real intersting there.

The fact that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have become "involved" in this, in of itself weakens any argument against Imus. The language that he used, while certainly in poor taste, pales in comparison with 90% of the lyrics in today's rap music yet we see no outcry over that since it is of course, "art".

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

it just seemed way out of proportion, the way their coach was talking about the team as if they were national heroes or something who just caught osama for us and then were called nappy heads. EVEN if what Imus said was racist I think that the media has blown it out of proportion.

Correct. No more offensive than "Hymie-Town".
