Quite the contrary, for when Moss is playing well he is one of the greatest shows in the history of the game, a legacy worth preserving. Here’s a stat few people pay much attention to: In 11 of Moss’ first 12 seasons, he had at least one catch of 60 yards or longer. In the one season (2006) he didn’t, he had a 51-yard long. Jerry Rice did that in nine of his first 10 years. Bob Hayes, the original deep threat, did it in six of his first seven. Don Hutson did that six times in 11 years. Lance Alworth did it in each of his first nine seasons, then never again.

Ochocinco? Five times in 10 years. Burress? Three times in nine.

The point: Moss is the greatest deep threat in the history of the game and it’s not even close. Longtime NFL cornerback Al Harris(notes) once laughed about what kind of routes Moss used to run.

“Randy doesn’t run any routes, he either runs deep or he runs a crossing pattern,” Harris said. “What Randy does is try to lull you to sleep. He’ll run at different speeds sometimes to make you think he’s part of the play or not part of the play. Then, when he thinks he has you, he just runs past you.”

Didn't hear Clayton's comments...but if he really thinks Moss isn't a HOFer then he's even more of an idiot then I originally thought.

Here's something I'd like to know...has Clayton ever played a down of football at any level? Seriously, the guy looks like he'd be better suited to play Dungeons and Dragons or something.

Moss is the greatest deep threat in the history of the game and it’s not even close. only jerry rice was a better overall wide receiver. so yes randy moss should make the hall of fame.

john clyaton is must listen to, good info, but wrong in this instance

fprget even his stats, which make him belong easy, first ballot

just talk to all the opposing defensive coordinators he played against throughout his career

they will tell you just how much they had to scheme against just him, when one player causes opposing to coaches so much grief, its a sign, they are a special player

Mainly because of his poor attitude and the fact that he quit on alot plays and even admitted so. He just comes across more as a quitter than an "all around" football player. To me that is not Hall of Fame material. But ultimately stats will be more powerful.

I think he will get in, but all I am agreeing with is that he is not a lock. Just like Clayton was saying.

for the record, clayton didnt say this, because saying hes not a lock to be in the HOF, is insane

what he said was, if it were up to him, hed be in but that sometimes theres resistance with wide receivers to get in....

on the 1st or 2nd ballotbut that would be due to others, not him to get in right away

Moss gets in......but I don't think he is really done yet. I'm thinking Moss wants someone to really want him. In the right situation he would come back.
