Thumbs up Just an Idea

TO ALL THE MODS AND OTHER PEOPLE OF IMPORTANCE HERE:

Has anyone here considered creating seperate forums for picks and discussions. I find myself logging on and having to weed my way through 30 different peoples pre season picks, when all I really want is discussion.

I understand the importance of members being able to post picks. And I think it's a great part of the forum. It gets really annoying though when I'm looking for someones post with recent information on the league, and there are 3 pages of posts. A seperate forum for picks only would allow members to keep their credential building, while not bombarding those of us looking just for discussion. And it may be possible to keep a graph or tracking service of everyone's picks in the pick forum. You could post it right next to all the threads and let everyone know who has street credit.

This is just an idea I'm throwing out there.

I understand where your coming from bro, but its not a sports talk forum, its a sports gambling forum. Thus, cappers mall.

Obviously recent events are a big part of gambling which is why they are combined, because for gamblers/cappers they coincide.

Personaly I like it how it is, but I am not a mod and quite possibly there are others who agree with you.

Jack would be the guy to talk to.

If your looking for a specific thread and want to find it quicker, hit the search tab on top. as far as having 2 separate forums, The likely hood of the discussion forum is highly unlikely due to not being busy enough.

Options can always be looked into.

other jack has it like that

I think discussion is way more important than a simple pick

and possibly it should be a separate forum

The picks can get overwhelming on gameday. Frankly I do not see the need to say " I like Team A" with absolutely no explination at all, but some guys must think it is very important to get their two cents on the net. On the other hand, we do have very good cappers that do excellent write ups explaiing their point of view. Read PittViper's Cal-Tennessee write up for a good example. Those I find to be very interesting, whether I agree with them or not. Unfortunately, I do not think you can separate the two.

If I make a pick I simply say the side with no writeup

but all week id participate in discussion posts leading to that

when the picks threads outnumber discussion 4 and 5 to 1

it hard to find some good discussion

Most of those writeups were cut and pasted from another source.

You have to do your own research/homework.

You cannot rely on others to do it for you.

When you have 500 people posting their picks and explanations, it will only confuse you more.

You can be "talked into or out of" a play if you haven't done your homework in advance.

I post my picks and sometimes a little write up, but most of the time I just don't have the time to write a 2 page summary analyzing all of the different matchups and why I think the team should cover

If I understand you right you are saying do nothing at all with the NFL forum (as an example) and add a forum which would be an additional (football) forum used for discussion on all of the games in its own thread?

Assuming the above is correct – I see the pros and cons as such.

Forum 2 becomes matchup forum for discussion on games so forum 1 would actually only be picks instead of what it is now which does include some discussion. I worry a little about that. On the other hand the football forums are certainly busy enough to split in to another one but I would think in all of these discussion threads – you will still have guys posting in these threads by saying, I like Miami, I like whatever. Not sure how that can be avoided.

Are you talking having us list each game and be one thread for each game only for discussion? I can set it up where regular members can only reply and not a create thread in that section. Or are you talking just if someone wants to discuss one game to create a thread in that section?

I guess I would wonder why that still can’t be done in the football forum as is now? I get the buried behind posts but any other negatives?

As far as the other thing – not really sure I am interested in automatic record keeping. People can keep records now if they like as long as they are accurate but I have no problem if someone doesn’t post records. Not really a monitoring service

I am not shutting down your request but would like to hear more pros/cons with doing it or not doing it?

If you are asking for opinions I say leave it like it is.If it works don't try to fix it.And I think it works just fine.

This statement is nothing more than bullshit. The CM membership has and will continue to expose those that try this and you know that this is true, Skippy.

I have to agree with the judge. If he and I both pick, say Texas over TCU, our reasoning is probably going to be pretty much the same. I am sure that one of our posts may seem to sound like another you may have read in some other forum or in some paper or tout sheet. The question is how many different ways can you state the same thing? If the Judge and I both think that Texas has too much offense for TCU's defense, how many different ways can we say it?
