Just an investment to keep in my mind
Long term care was non existent as far as a concept 40 years ago...people did not live long enough to get dementia/alzheimers or for that matter to live healthy for 80+ years
# of the top ten major stock holding Nursing Home/short term rehab providers have been taken private in the last 5 years... Beverly...which split but over 3/4 of the company have (almost 300 homes) have become Golden Living Centers..leaving less then 100 center with Beverly Mariner ...has split leaving...with less then50 remaining Mariner the other almost 200 have formed a company called Sava Senior Care... Now here is the kicker the owners of Sava and Golden are one and the same.....and they also own a smaller leg to their investment that also is invested in LTC.... It was announced today that in appx 5 years the single largest taxed based program in the US is not going to be the military...nearly 1 in 5 dollars are going to be in the Medicare system....You are generally not eligible for medicare until the age of 65....see where this going The investors of these companies are hands off owners...real estate in their background..... Continue to look for Rehab companies that invest heavy in Therapy departments..healthcare tends to be an investment that goes up when economy goes down.. I am looking at re-investing in Kindred and SunHealthcare personally Good luck to all wde
