Key To Fantasy Baseball
Hey Guys, just wanting some feedback on MLB fantasys, would you build your team around offense or pitching? assuming there were 7 batting categories and 7 pitching stat categories.
thanks |

Depends on your scoring system. What position your drafting and who's available at that time. Pitching is the only position that can get you -pts for a week in most leagues. So having solid pitching is a must. But dont pass on a big bat to get a guy that is equal to 5 other pitchers.
I usually try and keep pitching and hitting equal. There will be weeks your hitters carry you and others where your pitching does. Good luck

I always just take the best player available. I like to rank my guys in teirs. And when it is my turn I just look at my list and see who is the best one on it and take them.

I usually try to keep an emphasis on pitching, I have found that this is the intangible it takes to win a league.
I usually go combo power/speed guys on offense...i.e Carl Crawford and Car-Go . This usually takes care of all categories pretty good and gives you flexibilty to take high risk/reward types like Carlos Pena and Mark Reynolds. My pitching I take 3 solid closers...not ones you will be blowing a high pick on but 3 guys that you know will finish with ~1 K/inning and will finish with 35-40 saves. Last year I had Rafael Soriano, K-Rod, and Brian Wilson. I ended up with the best closers in the league for cheap (had to band-aid fix K-Rod when he went out). Had a guy draft Mariano, Papelbon, and Broxton and it blew up in his face. For starters, draft high and hit free agency hard. I usually try to take a top tier pitcher early, like Lincecum, Sabathia, Etc. Then another in the 3rd-4th round. But it never fails there is some dumbass that quits on a pitcher in May and drops him...be sure to look out for that. |
