They have a patented, back lit display, so beats a tablet pc for reading alone

however it cant do much else, cant justify buying one, because of that

if it could browse, and open pdf files I might consider it

should be at a lower price point IMO

Sorry for the bump, but instead of creating another thread

Anyone use the Kindle Fire, basically just using it to read e-books and keep track of emails while away. Will possible venture in to some apps, but right now just for reading. Any suggestions on these

Any other e-readers for suggestions

Bought my wife a Kobo touch a Christmas, but I think its Chapters Canadian version of these e-readers. Same as Kindle probably. She loves it. Price was right ($150 with a cool cover) compared to an ipad, and there's no need for the internet IMO, as we have a macbook pro for that. The Kobo just strictly replaces the bulky books she used to lug around.

Downloaded a couple thousand best selling books from pirate bay, and no need to ever worry about buying a book ever again. Really going to be a savings over the years, as she used to buy a $20 book every month or so from Chapters, so essentially after 6 months the thing has paid for itself, and will save us a couple hundred dollars every year going forward.
