Labor Laws - TX

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but just gonna see if my fellow mallers can chime in... been searching the web... gonna keep searching web... can't find exactly what I want... and consequently spent too much time on the web searching...

hourly workers travelling for business - not sure it's whether when you leave your house or the airport (regular job commute v non-regular job commute) that you start getting paid for being on the job...

I've asked around.. and some say you get 2hrs bfore the flight and 1 hr after the flight... i.e. 3 hrs plus the flight time... but you don't get paid to sleep even though you are out of town away from home. I think this is correct...

anyone know better than me (you lawyer types)?

The answer you get will vary from employer to employer. At our company, if the non-exempt employee is traveling on business, they are paid from the time they leave home until the time they arrive at the destination hotel.

My wife is HR mngr, ran it by her.. She told me that you are to be paid for the difference of your normal travel time. If it takes you 30 min to commute to work, and you are traveling and it takes you 4hrs and 30 min to get to your job site, you should be paid for 4 hrs. Anything above that is being generous by the company. Hope that helps

thanks fellas... after doing a little more research *and your comments" I'm finding that the airport time is really matter how the company wants to do it.... to an extent... found out that my company actually has some service guys that go on teh road (fly) and are hourly... def dont' get paid 24 - 7 while on teh road.... but really it's kind of like time until you leave your hotel to time you get back (minus the commmute)
