Landmark / Groundbreaking Albums

What do you consider some of the most groundbreaking albums in history?
I'll start with the obvious ones:

Guns & Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Nirvana - Nevermind
AC/DC - Back in Black
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

Dark side of the moon is one of the best ever. I know that wasn't your question but we need more music like such

Totally agree Jack

Even though I'm so sick of it, this deserves mention:

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive

Metallica - Kill 'Em All In the early 80s I was heavily into metal, reading every issue of Kerrang magazine and checking the Tower Imports bin all the time. I bought this album, put needle to vinyl and was hooked from the 1st play, still am

Wow, right after my post someone mentions my favorite band of all time. Not sure I see them as groundbreaking though, they just did what was already done better than anyone else. What was groundbreaking about the album to you, Darth?

I always list those 4 as well when this discussion comes up.

Maybe add:

Kiss - Alive II (skyrocketed their own careers and made big live albums a "must" for bands for quite a while.)
Van Halen I (has any guitarist influenced more in the last 40 years? ushered in the "shredding" era.)
