Laptops

I have to get a new laptop for work, i currently have a Toshiba Tablet PC. However it has seen better days and I am over the Tablet feature. I am looking at either a Sony Vaio or a IBM(Lenovo). Anyone have any feedback about either of these? I like the Sony better but I have heard great things about the Lenovo. Thanks -Cat

Who's paying for it? Can't say I've heard a whole lot of good things about Lenovo - I'm actually surprised their quality hasn't been knocked more since they are made in China.

My work just bought us VAIO AR290's... Fantastic laptop... I have the 17" (for my eyes) but they can sell you the small screens as well.

Be careful on shopping around for the VAIO's though because alot of the models come with Windows Media Center loaded on them, which is greeeaatt if you're a home user, but terrible if you are in a corporate environment. XP Windows Media Center will not join to a domain on a corporate network . So make sure it has XP Pro loaded on it!

rock a sony then. you're paying a small premium for the sony name, but their quality is top notch. Lenovo has nothing to do with IBM the company anymore - they just bought out IBM's computer business and the naming rights to " IBM Thinkpad." With Sony you're dealing with someone that is more reputable. You might want to ask jaypasco about how strong Vaio laptop screens are though first!

It is a monster, but I need the big screen for my eyes. They make a smaller version which one of our sales guys has and he thinks its great. He travels alot as well.

Sony Vaio all the way! Lenovo aint that great. I work for an IT company and our technicians do not really try to push the Lenovo's. Actually one of our main technicians recently bought a small Vaio and he loves it.
Don't know if I helped but good luck Catdaddy!
