Laser Eye Surgery

ANyone had this?

What did you think? Is it worth it?

I jsut turned 25, my eye sight isnt bad at all (just got contacts for the first time 2 years ago), but man my eyes dont do well with contacts. Always red, dry, and bothersome... Sometimes to the point it makes me feel tired.

My contact situation is so bad sometimes I have to actually consider this

i have 2 friends who have gotten this done and both are ****in ecstatic w/ the results

had one friend who wore glasses basically his entire life (3rd grade and on) and he said he couldn't imagine going back to glasses or contacts. he had it done like 4 years ago and everything still perfect to this day

if i had extra money to throw around i'd do it in a heartbeat but contacts dont bother me too much and i get them relatively cheap

my eye doc is one of the best and told me this --

everybody, at some point or another, as they age will begin to lose some of their up-close vision i.e. reading

many people can easily live to 50 or even 60 without needing reading glasses, but almost everybody will eventually need them

what he told me is, if i get the lasik done, i will likely need reading glasses much sooner than if i did not have it done...so i trade having perfect vision now for most likely needing reading glasses sooner than i would have...i.e. i can make it easily to 50 or so without needing them while if i had the lasik done i may need it sooner

at age 25 you are golden you have at least 15-25 years before this is an issue, i would recommend you take the time to ask your doctor who is the BEST and get 3 names. Find someone who does 1000s every year and has a great track record

wavefront lasik is mapped specifically to your eye to improve the results, go with that if you can afford the extra $$

make sure you take the time in the consultation to talk about your current issues. they have to cut a flap to fix your eye, the dryness and other issues could morph into other potential problems after the surgery so make sure you are a good candidate

as WC said....I have several friends that have done it and only regret waiting so long to get it done

I am considering it myself....have never wore glasses or contacts but I know my sight could be much better...I think the last drivers eye test I barely got through proved this lol

i had it done last December. I used to hate contacts, having to take them out, clean them, ect. Always had red, dry, itchy eyes.

Very glad I had the laser eye surgery done and dont have to worry about contacts. You have to be careful with your eyes though afterwards. You cant rub your eyes or anything cause it can mess up the surgery, like youll have blurred vision for a little bit, ect. But overall happy. No more caring for contacts, no more itchiness, or having to worry about buying new contacts, ect.

Frat - had it done by Dr. Booth 5 years ago... best thing I've ever done!

paid $3200 and I'd pay double that with the freedom it's given me...

It's a no-brainer my friend. Still have 20-10

I would never have that stuff done to my eyes, it's permanent damage... heard too many risks and complications from it...

Do allotta research... you may want to check out: http://www.lasikcomplications.com/
and there a lotsa people with youtube videos on why they wish they hadn't screwed around with their eyes.

The flap that they have to cut in your eye only heals to 2.4% normal tensile strength of what it used to be... scary stuff...

my brother in law had it done and he loves it. thinking about getting it done when the taxes come back this year. well worth it if you get a respectable doctor.

My eyesight was just as bad 20-400
I had it done eight years ago and still have 20/20 vision.
I'm with the consensus of peopele that have had it done already, it's the best money I've ever spent.

I would highly recommend it to anyone.

anybody ever have a problem with dry eyes, sensitive to sunlight, etc after doing it?

I have blue eyes and the sensitive to sunlight thing bothers me now sometimes. Also dry eyes and red eyes are destroying me too...
