Lawyer thoughts- a uncomfortable situation

relative rents an apartment with another younger person - they have a lease for another 8 months or so.
The other tennant is now using drugs and has been asked to stop but doesn't.

what are the choices ?

Call the cops, then she might get busted too because she lives there.
Threaten to call the cops ?
Tell the Landlord ?
Move and buy out the lease, but she cant afford it ?

tough situation

she is ****ed. If the cops raid the place which is doubtful unless there is dealing going on there she lives there and maybe held responsible. Tell the landlord and they may all go out in the street. I would go to the kids parents if he is that young and explain the situation. She can file something at the police station which wouldprob get her off the hook but I dont know if I want to be a rat. As I said she is Phucked

She needs to contact a criminal defense attorney in her area that has been around a while and has a good repore with the police. If none of the drugs are in the common area and only in the other tenants personal area the attorney will have no problem setting up the bust without affecting your relative.

If the relative moves out they are still legally responsible for any damages to the home and all rent through the duration of the contract. The attorney will once again have no problem squaring things with the Landlord if handled as I suggested above. Further in most states the renant doing drugs can be given 24 hours to vacate by the Landlord.

Good Luck, The Kid (Attorney & LandLord)

Evan: What? One name? ONE NAME!?!? Who are you? Seal?
Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?
