Led Zeppelin to reunite for one concert

The surviving three members and John Bonham's son on drums

Led Zeppelin is reuniting for a charity concert at London's O2 Arena on Nov. 26.

The British rock band's three surviving members -- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones -- will be joined by Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer, John Bonham.
The event at the 20,000-capacity venue is in aid of the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, which provides scholarships to universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and Turkey. The late Ertegun was the co-founder of Atlantic Records.
"During the Zeppelin years, Ahmet Ertegun was a major foundation of solidarity and accord," Plant, 59, said in a statement.
Led Zeppelin formed in 1968, named after an in-joke that the band's heavy sound would "go down like a lead balloon."
The group has sold more than 300 million albums, pioneering heavy-metal music with songs such as "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway to Heaven."
Pete Townshend of the Who, former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini will also play at the concert. All were mentored by Ertegun. Nutini, 20, was the last British artist he signed.
Tickets will cost $254 and Hours after the concert was announced, an estimated 20 million fans around the world had tried to register and the web site had crashed. Successful applicants will be notified by Oct. 1. Led Zeppelin broke up after drummer Bonham died, at 32, in 1980. Ertegun died in New York last December from a head injury suffered when he fell backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in October. He was 83.

Never saw the original band but did see Page and Plant years ago and then Plant solo several years later

Page & Plant were great, they sounded amazing and bonham's kid played that tour too, just fine as a sub

plant solo....was the opening act for a who show i went to. when he played zeppelin, he got a little respect, when he played solo stuff, he was literally laughed and snickered at because he has become a big gelatinous blob who doesn't sound good and is lazy

plant may be well past his prime for this show....but if you never got to see them it's one last chance i suppose

This is the same lineup that reunited for the 40th anny of Atlantic Records. I would pay big bucks to go to this show.

I've seen Plant and Page twice when the got together a few years back and Plant numerous times.

Plant has the best voice in rock-n-roll history IMO.

Of all the bands playing reunion tours/shows now how can this not be right up there? Although it's only one show I'd watch this over the Eagles, Van Halen, The Who etc..........okay, maybe not Pink Floyd. C'mon Waters and Gilmour time is ticking, get your act together!!

Until then I'll be here, Comfortably Numb.............

Reports have it that if the show is a success we should expect a world tour sometime in 2008.

maybe at one time, but surely not now. Not for the last 10+ years or so.

Seth: Fogell, this ID says that you're 25 years old. Why wouldn't you just put 21, man?
Fogell: Seth, Seth, Seth. Listen up, ass-face: every day, hundreds of kids go into the liquor store with fake IDs, and every single one says they're 21. Pssh, how many 21 year olds do you think there are in this town? It's called f*cking strategy, alright?

it's a shame because none of these re-unions , in my opinion, live up to the time when they were in their prime. yes, i got to see the eagles, kiss, police, genesis, rolling stones, scorpions(did they ever break up??), not to mentions guys like springsteen, billy joel, mccartney but these shows lacked the "originalness" of seeing them in an arena when their songs and albums were on the top of the charts. it's all a money grab and i don't think the customer ever really gets their moneys worth from a show of this kind. you are willing to pay 250-500 to see these guys at 59 years old?? i understand being a fan of the music, but damn - what i wouldn't give to see queen live at wembley stadium in 1979 with 60,000 other people, when freddie mercury was on top of the world. fleetwood mac returns and dissappears, same with guys like styx and journey...alll they want is the money and they are willing to wreck their reputations they worked hard to build up by playing live shows well past their prime. i know there are exceptions, but with every new tour or reunion announced i get more skeptical of whether it really is worh it or not.

Journey cannot get Steve Perry to join up with them. The guy they have doing the vocals is very good, but he is not Steve Perry.

Problem is that there is SOOOO much $$ to be made from these tours, these groups see it as a retirement/severance opportunity that they simply cannot pass up.

I think its cool to go to a Judas Priest or Black Sabbath show and see the 50year old fans toking with the 16 year old fans.
