Led Zeppelin to tour without Plant?

What would be the point? This would be a horrible mistake IMO

The latest buzz on the long-awaited/prayed-for Zeppelin reunion tour is that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham might go ahead and hit the road without Robert Plant. Jones said as much to the BBC (click here for the article). Ol’ Jonesy might have been talking out of his arse, since it’s coming so quickly after Plant reconfirmed he has no plans to do the tour, which seemed to be a swipe at his former bandmates. But then again, Page, Jones and Kid Bonham might all indeed be that desperate for something to happen that they’d hire a patsy.
It’s hard not to see Plant as the jerk in this case: After two decades of flopping solo albums, he seemed all revved up for the tour as of December 2007. But then lo and behold, his little record with Alison Krauss blows up (rightfully so, I loved it), and for some reason he’s not interested in Zep anymore. He and Krauss are now planning to make another record.
As hard as it might be to imagine, would you pay to see the other Zep survivors and one heir without Plant? And who do you think could handle the vocalist slot? Don’t say Paul Rodgers or David Coverdale. Maybe Scott Weiland? Chances are they wouldn’t be able to call themselves Led Zeppelin, so they’d probably come up with something coy like The Living Led or Coda or …?

From what I've read Plant doesn't want to play loud music anymore

I am torn becuase on one hand, I would love to see Zeppelin if Plant was there, but I also think if the original members of a band like this are not all able to participate, then the remaining members should not tour again.

If they tour without Plant and play Zeppelin songs, that would be a travesty

Led Zeppelin should not go on tour using their original name without singer Robert Plant, promoter Harvey Goldsmith has said.

Plant announced last month that he would not tour for at least two years, and his other bandmates are auditioning for a new frontman to perform in future live shows.

Mr Goldsmith, who has promoted the band in the past, including their one-off show at the O2 Arena last year, said that even if Plant agreed to go on tour, it would not be the right move for the band.

He said: "If they're going out with another singer it's not exactly Led Zeppelin, and if it is, then them doing a long tour, I'm not sure what the point is because they don't need to do it.

"I think they should do something as Led Zeppelin but I think doing a long tour around the world, like the Rolling Stones did, I don't know that would work.

"They're one of the few lucky bands that don't need to tour. They need to do something new and innovative that would turn them on.

"As far as I'm aware there's no Led Zeppelin tour. Whatever the rest of the band want to do with other musicians is up to them."

I don't see a problem with it. I'd see Led Zeppelin without Plant. Just like I've seen AC/DC without Bon Scott, Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, Motely Crue without Tommy Lee. Hell, even the Doors without Jim was pretty f*ckin' cool. And what about Queen with Paul Rogers?? - Not bad. Honestly, I've never really liked Plant's voice anyway.

Dude, could you imagine Chris Cornell fronting that band? - That would be AWESOME!!

That statement shocks me

IMO his voice is the voice of hard rock

Really... I've always considered Dio to be the quintessential voice of hard rock.
Plant, I suppose, was decent on the studio records, but his voice live was not all that good IMO.

That might be for other reasons

Not that there's anything wrong with that
