Kobe is the best in the game as of right now but he is not Jordan, never will be Jordan and shouldn’t even be in the conversation with Jordan. Anyone who says differently did not watch Michael Jordan play. JMO

Sorry to disagree Doc. But I think Kobe compares very favorably to Jordan. Doesn't have the flash that Jordan did but just from a skills point of view I think he is right there with Jordan. Kobe shoots the 3 better but Jordan played better "D". I agree Jordan was still better at this point. But Kobe is definitely in the conversation and he is not through yet. JMO

Very well said, and I couldn't have said it better myself.

I think from a skills point of view they match up favorably but Jordan was just on another level when it came to carrying his team and getting them over the hump. Its almost like Tiger Woods is on a different level mentally than anyone else around him...he just knows he is going to win. I dont think Kobe is there yet, while Michael was there from day 1

There is no question that Kobe is the best in the game today and very talented, But why Jordan was greater was his ability to carry his team and make the surrounding players so much better. Pippen was named one of the NBA's greatest 50 players ONLY because of MJ. If he played with any other players he would only be a very good All Star. Kobe does not make anyone else on his teams better players. A big difference is comparing these players. Bird was also someone who made his players much better.

People tend to forget this Bulls team was a very good team even without Jordan. After Jordan's first retirement, the Bulls were 1 game away from the Eastern Conference Finals. Not bad from a team coming off a surprise retirement from the games best player. As for Pippen that season, averaged 22 ppg on 49% field goal shooting, 8.7 rebounds/game, 5.6 assists/game, and 2.93 steals/game, and lead this Bulls team WITHOUT Jordan to 55 wins. So let's not disrespect Pippen and say the only reason he had a good career was because of Jordan.
