Life in the Business World.........

today is the day before thanksgiving........i've worked for a mining company for about 6 years now......we've been a money-making group for many years....then, about 8 months ago, we got a new head of our permitting.......permitting is the life-blood of the mining industry........prob is, this guy doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.....there's 11 people in my engineering office, and i saw this guy monday for the first time in 3 months........he is running us in the ground........we just shut down 2 of our biggest mines in KY due to high cost..........then, about 5 minutes ago, i got a call saying that there's going to be massive layoffs until first of the year........i knew this was going to happen, so i'd started talking with another company about working for them starting in january........well, january couldn't come quick enough..........myself, 2 other engineers i work with, 2 of our geologists and countless others just got laid off.........thanks for doing this the day before thanksgiving you fuking prick..........

DB very, very sorry to hear you lost your job. that is serious and i hope that you find other work ASAP

don't just blame that guy though, whomever hired him and let him do things that way...it sounds like he is the hatchet man. all i'm saying is he was hired to do that job so look beyond him and point the fingers there too because they hired that guy to be the a-hole, typical owner doesn't want his hands dirty

hang tough, that's a tough business and you didn't do anything wrong so you are a victim like so many....you'll find something just stay determined

DB one thing to keep in mind is that it is a tramatic event when it happens, however, you are are not alone in having this situation. It happens to many people and the key is to make the best of this opportunity. I had a similar situation happen a while back and now looking back it was the best thing that could have happened. Keep the mindset that this is actually an opportunity rather than a setback. keep your head up man
