Loading up on MSFT/Nasdaq is looking very interesting.

MACD is bullish at this time on MSFT. Looks like the beginning of a nice uptrend since March.

Took a little MSFT also.
Held off a bigger position until this Yahoo garbage is settled. Love to see them pull the bid and drive YHOO back to 20 but who knows.

do you guys think its a good idea to short yahoo? my thoughts are that this bid wont go through, and msft will execute a hostile takeover and drive the stock down. yahoo is already having some trouble and its just what it needs.

disclaimer. i am just learning so please dont shoot me.

Yhoo will get the original $31 or slightly higher, this will play out same way Oracle and BEAS did

do you think that google getting involved is maintaining yahoo right now? if msft launches a hostile takeover and google backs off (which they will, they are not going to dump money on yahoo, this is just a front IMO), then i think that yahoo would be lucky to go on the low 20s, no?

Hey Zoom- Ask as many questions as you need to, no problem.

Just my opinion: No telling what Yahoo will do but if I'm a YHOO investor and the offer's withdrawn, the stock gets crushed and I'm pissed. Stock goes back to 19. MSFT offers me 25, I'm taking it. Who else could seriously step in other than Google? And they don't need the headache.

They'd be stupid not to take the current offer but they're trying to squeeze more. Greed will kill you.

As far as a short, it's a gamble. You short at $27.50 and they take the deal at 30 or 31, you get hit. Or maybe they get a surprise bid from someone @ 35 to force MSFT to raise the bar?

So you have to ask yourself if you're a gambler or a trader? The risk is too high for me. Best to watch the news and trade when it hits. If MSFT pulls the offer during trading hours, the short is a no brainer but you have to be quick.
If you want to gamble, best to go small with a tight stop.

thanks goods. im gonna be visitng more often, i have been meaning to learn more, but damn work (and capping) consume my time.

Thank you for your opinion, i agree about the risk. and putting it in persepctive, you are probably right, if it tanks it wont be enough to make up what it could sell for if it works out for yahoo.

YW, ZoomVT. Yahoo's now trying to work with GOOG to fend off MSFT's takeover. I think MSFT will ultimately get YHOO but who knows what price or when. Too risky IMO.

Picked up a little more MSFT to average down to $28.95. That's all I'm taking for now. GE's numbers wrecked a lot of upward momentum in the market. MSFT reports on the 24th (I think). They've beat the last 5 of 6 quarters, due in part to Xbox numbers. Xbox is still a cash cow for them but they've had a ton of problems with the consoles, might take a bite out of any surprise.

MSFT has still been pretty much sideways since the original post, up a little on it. If it can follow up with some solid #s like INTC and IBM, anyone that has a position will be looking good for some solid profits. MSFT is still in its uptrend since March. I am looking at the 30's for the benchmark to get some movement.

Shaping up really well. I'd think with all the upside earning surprises from GOOG, INTC, etc., MSFT should gain momentum into their earnings next week.

If so, I'll probably unload 1/2 or 3/4 before the earnings call and hope for another surprise for a pop on the rest to push that uptrend higher.

Thought about nabbing some GOOG ah last night when it paused @ 490 but
hesitated. Same with ETFC @ $3.60. The earnings were a little confusing at first. Next time...

Definitely agree with you GOODs as far as MSFT shaping up well. Volume up over 50%. I haven't takin profits and love the fact that it closed in the 30s. I am going to let MSFT do its thing for now and don't plan on taking any profits before earnings. Like CIEN, IMO this stock will break the 200 EMA. Again, still risky but love everything I am seeing so far and feel this uptrend is far from over unless I am completely way off and earnings don't come in line or they lower guidance.

NAZ may start feeling some pressure soon. Its not that far off its 200EMA. Still have a little under 60points until it will test it. MSFT has been solid like expected once it broke the 30s. Still looking solid here Goods. Solid earnings and guidance and we should be testing mid 30s in no time.

Been loving the steady gains on MSFT regardless of the overall market the past 5 days. Don't see any reason they shouldn't have solid numbers. Still don't know how you do it my man, another great call

This doesn't hurt either:
Rupert Murdoch said Monday that he wouldn't challenge a Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) bid for Yahoo Inc. (YHOO), the second-largest Internet search engine. "I can't afford that," Murdoch said.
"I certainly can't afford to bid against Microsoft, least of all for Yahoo."
But he didn't rule out teaming with Microsoft on a bid for Yahoo, saying "that would depend on the deal."
