Some 15 year old punk beat the hell out of this girl for no reason after school around here. He was reportedly kicking her in the head with steel boots. She is in a medical induced coma. What do you do with a punk like this?

Recordings from two 911 calls reporting last week's beating of Josie Lou Ratley at Deerfield Beach Middle School were released Monday by the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The first call reports the assault that took place just after dismissal Wednesday at a campus bus stop. The second is apparently from a school official asking for law enforcement to come and arrest Wayne Treacy, 15, a student at Deerfield Beach High School.

"I have a high school student that actually created the injury to this child," the caller said. "I need someone to… arrest."

She referred to Treacy as a "high school student who came onto my campus," and told the dispatcher Treacy was in her office. She also apparently orders Treacy to put his phone down while talking to the dispatcher.

Treacy is facing a first-degree attempted murder charge for the March 17 incident. The Sheriff's Office said he bicycled from his home to the middle school to seek out Ratley after she sent him a text message that made a reference to his dead brother. Wearing steel-toe boots, he allegedly stomped on her head up to seven times as she lay on the ground defenseless, according to an arrest report.

The results of the beating are clear in a series of disturbing photographs released by Ratley's family Monday. The pictures of the battered 15-year-old girl show stitches on both sides of her head, the scars of two surgeries she's endured at Broward General Medical Center.

This, said her lawyer, is what violence looks like.

"People read about this and hear about it, but they don't see what violence looks like," said attorney Rick Freedman, who represents the Ratley family. He said Ratley's family wants people to see the pictures to show that violence has consequences.

Ratley remains in a medically induced coma. Her mother made her first public comments on NBC's "Today Show," still struggling to control her emotions as she talked about her daughter's condition.

Hilda Gotay Ratley said on the program that she had not seen the text messages that authorities say were at the root of last Wednesday's incident.

"All I know is my baby is in the hospital," she said, fighting back tears. "I don't know anything."

According to the Sheriff's Office, Ratley's cell phone was used by a 13-year-old friend to send text messages to Treacy, with whom the friend had a relationship.

That friend now faces a charge as a principal in the case. The Sheriff's Office said the 13-year-old friend pointed out Ratley, knowing Treacy intended to harm her. Her lawyer, Jonathon Marne, said the girl didn't take Treacy's threat seriously and that she did not witness the beating.

Both Treacy and the girl are in juvenile detention while prosecutors review the cases.

Ratley said her daughter did not know Treacy. When asked on the "Today Show" how the girl was doing, Ratley appeared unable to answer.

"She's a sweetheart. She's like a little mother, always correcting us, correcting her friends," Ratley said later, toward the end of the program.

Ratley and Freedman questioned the quality of security at Deerfield Beach Middle School, wondering how an attack like this could happen less than 10 minutes after dismissal. "Where were the school resource officers?" Freedman said. "Someone had to run off to find a teacher to stop the attack."

As of late Monday afternoon, the Broward School District did not return calls posing questions about security at the school.

The sick world we live in is a product of parents who are parents for no reason other than the fact that having sex made them that way. They have kids and teach them absolutely nothing, most important they never teach them the concept of SHAME...because they as parents have never felt it themselves

Doing this sort of thing is not just a bad seed, it's a bad product created by years of bad parenting...or no parenting.

People should be standing outside the family's house calling for blood and at a minimum force the family to move

just 30 years ago the world was completely different, you didn't do this stuff not just to not do it but because your community would never, ever let you or your family live it down
