LPGA's Erica Blasberg dies at 25

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police and an agent for 25-year-old Erica Blasberg say the LPGA tour golfer has died.

Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said Monday that authorities were investigating Blasberg's Sunday death. It was not immediately clear whether foul play was involved.

Blasberg's agent, Chase Callahan, confirmed her death but declined to provide details because of the investigation.

A message left by AP with the coroner's office was not immediately returned.

A spokeswoman for the Clark County Coroner's Office told Golf Digest, "That investigation is still pending so we have no cause of death to report at this time." When asked how long it would be before a cause of death was determined, the spokeswoman said, "Although it could be sooner, it is not unusual for it to take between four to 12 weeks."

Blasberg played her only LPGA tour event this year two weeks ago in Mexico and tied for 44th.

She found greater success in college, winning six times in two years at the University of Arizona and playing on the Curtis Cup team in 2004. She turned professional that year.

Her death was first reported by Golfweek magazine.

Callahan posted this statement to LPGA.com: "We are devastated to learn of the passing of Erica Blasberg. To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that. She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend. Erica had a good heart, was extremely kind and very thankful for what she had in her life. She lived out her dream of playing professional golf on the highest level on the LPGA Tour, allowing her to help inspire others. We are proud of Erica for everything she accomplished. This is a painful loss, we feel it in our hearts and we will miss her. Erica would want those close to her to celebrate the life she lived. We ask that you keep Erica and her family in your prayers."

Very unfortunate news and was shocked to hear this. Lets hope its of natural causes and not foul play. RIP
