Lucky lotto winner upgraded to lotto money

TORONTO -- Paul Cooper was happy enough expecting a $4,000 cheque in the mail until a lottery official told him it would be a tad more -- 1,000 times greater, in fact.

Still stunned by what Ontario Lottery Corporation supervisor Sharon Johnson said is its largest upgraded win, Cooper was surrounded by family when he picked up his $4 million yesterday.

"I didn't believe it," said the 62-year-old grandfather of five from Elmira, Ont., about an hour west of Toronto "I was thrilled with the $4,000."

That's what he thought was the figure on a store terminal.

The clerk who checked the Super 7 ticket also told him, "You've won $4,000." After buying stuffed bears for his three grandchildren, considering replacing his motor home with a larger one and providing university tuition for his grandkids, Cooper said "this will stay in the bank."

well, as long as the clerk is not taking his ticket n said he won $400... coz if he did getting only $400, then... u could say the clerk is lying bastard... coz the clerk could pay $400 but NOT $4000 and also the grandpa might hear wrong... over 60 years old people, sometimes they couldn't hear any good u know... have to scream or like yelling... then they could get what u r saying sometimes...

The clerk could've been trying to get the guy to accept $4000 cash on the spot.
