What is the primary use for the computer, business or pleasure i.e. streaming movies, music, porn etc... or reports, power point, excel?

having a MAC is nice but for the price difference it is not worth it at all

After owning and supporting PCs for 15+ years, I switched to a Mac 2 years ago and haven't looked back. In fact, I'll probably never own another PC. The price difference will play into your decision, but I don't mind paying a premium for quality and minimal maintenance.

i think people basically use whatever they learned on and continued to use.....i've always used a mac and love it

they are more expensive but i've bought probably 6-8 machines off of ebay over the last 10 yrs and have had nothing but good luck....i usually just go to newegg and grab a new harddrive......we have a few of the 13" macbooks that cost me around $550 each......and if you really miss windows or need it for something you can always set it up on your mac via the program bootcamp.......while studying for my apics certification there were some things on the site that wouldn't run on my mac so i just load up windows instead and it's good to go

Good info Quad. In addition to what Quad said, you might also look at refurbished units directly from Apple. You will generally save a few hundred bucks off the new price. Refurbished units from Apple come with the same 1 year warranty as a new unit. You also have the option of adding Applecare. I've bought new, refurbished, and units from eBay. All of them have worked out well for me. If you have a small amount of technical ability, you can upgrade hardware (drives, memory) yourself at a fraction of the cost.

yeah good call, forgot about the refurb stuff from apple.....and all you have to do to change memory/harddrive is remove the battery, slide out the part then slide the new one back in....it literally takes about 30 seconds....if you ever have any issues the apple forums are great as well as the 1000s of other sites out there
