Made in the USA..

If there was a store in your area where all the product was manufactured in the USA would you pay more and shop there?

Am always hearing people bitch about Walmart coming into their communities. Always wondered if a retailer marketed themselves as carrying only products made in USA would they make it?

IMO think people are still going to shop for the cheaper stuff as feel people don't value a lot of what they have.

I would definitely shop there and pay more. USA products are made much better. The old saying is "You get what you pay for"

We should be creating jobs, not eliminating them by having more and more machines doing them.
I think a Patriotic store would catch on

...on the other hand importing foreign products has its share of job creation especially on the coasts--not only as dock workers, shipper receivers, etc. but does as far as building freightliners.

The trick is for the government to try and balance the GNP: imports-exports by applying extra custom duty revenue to slow it down.

Disagree. There are a handful of manufacturing companies that actually manufacture quality products. And many of those are actually USA Plants for foreign companies.

a quick example, the BMW plan in SC.

Not particularly. If they have a quality product then yes, but not just because it is made here.

Actually this kind of thought is what has runied the quality of craftmanship here. If people just buy it and pay a premium because its mae here then whats the incentive to do quality work? Lets ask GM, Ford, et al how that worked out the last couple of decades.

then my answer would be NO.

The reason is I'm more of a "One World" kinda guy--my home is decorated from stuff from a variety of countries even if I don't travel.

To go that "MADE IN ONE'S COUNTRY ONLY" route shows racism (sorry to bring that up too but I like some reasoning behind one's answer.)

Luke, dont quite agree with the racism slant. Nationalism may be the more suitable term here and I dont think nationalism equals racism.

If the global economy were being played on a completely level playing field there probably wouldnt even be a reason for this thread.

To address the thread topic, I would personally buy made in USA and do when given the opportunity. But, even in my own business, when I give customers the choice between made in the US (which always means a higher price) vs imported, they choose the lower price 9 out of 10 times. One group which seems to be an exception to that rule is US Military Vets--they will usually choose made in USA given the choice to do so.

people may lose jobs in the short term due to technology

then people learn new skills, all is well if they can keep up with innovation
