It hooks up to ur computer, you get unlimited calls for like $20 a year. Some people swear by it, others don't lie it.

if you make alot of calls, long distance etc, might be worth to try, but cell phones have free long distance anyway

As long as you have a high speed connection it works great and the call quality is excellent. If I use it with a broadband card the quality can be pretty spotty though.

I use it for all of my calls from Panama to the States and even for the BetFirstClass 800 numbers. Plus my family and friends in Texas can call me and it is like a local call.

If it is not plugged in, calls go straight to voicemail and then I receive a wav file of the message via email. Might just be the best 40 bucks I ever spent.

if it requires high speed internet, hows it any better than skype?

with skype you can buy hardware (a phone ) too, but the serivice is free

adn to have your own # is a small charge too
