THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PICKING GOLF WINNERS
1. CLOSER with CHARACTER. Certain guys see the finish line and cross it and others are destined for second place.
2. RELAXED CONFIDENCE, FOCUS and a HUNGER to win. It's a mental game and their mind has to be in the right frame with a determination and focus. As Harry Vardon said: "To play well you must feel tranquil and at peace. I have never been troubled by nerves in golf because I felt I had nothing to lose and everything to gain."
3. COURSE. Does the course layout favor the strengths of the golfer and does it expose their weaknesses. Previous form can change immediately for those who feel comfortable on a course and its greens.

wow
freaky and sad
I remember one time, I hit a hard semi duck hook on the first hole at our local and I drilled a guy coming up 18 , hit him in the shoulder , he was about 60 something, about two weeks later he showed me his arm... damn it was still unreal , purple
Lucked out that I didn't hit him in the head

been drilled myself before in shoulder, heard it coming, sizzling, a driver about 260 hit me on the forearm, left a nice dimple mark

i live right across the street from a nine hole course that is built between lake michigan and lake shore drive ( basically a highway)

on hole 8 you are literally 10 yards from the Drive and i watch from my window as at least 20 balls a day go flying right over the fence into cars going 50mph causing accidents and also the bike/running path right there i have seen 3 people down on the ground after getting hit with ambulances onsite.....

that shit can hurt if hit no doubt

just do a google map of 4000- 4200 North marine drive and you will see what i am talking about...lol

One of the reasons why I don't play golf or never have. I have no clue where the ball is going much less anyone else's ball. If I am not paying attention and the thing hits me from that distance & height, it could be me.

But I do feel sorry for that man & his family, as it is a sad & unfortunate thing to happen.

If im on a course, any and everyone should watch out because I can slice and hook a ball with the best of them.

Not really a valid reason not to play IMO. I've been playing for 15 years and never once been hit bad, been hit a couple of times but no Injury.
You just need to be careful and when someone yells fore take cover.

Worst hole I've ever seen here in NZ, can match that. The hole runs parallel to a main and pretty busy road. Its a par 4, the fairway is about 20 metres wide and about a few metres of rough. On the edge of the rough there is a fence and of course over the fence is the main road. Crazy suff have seen many drives sail onto the road. How they can have this setup approved is beyond me. You would think they would have to have some large trees on the fence line at the least. But then again its a small town.

The closet shave I've ever had on a golf course (at least I thought so at the time), was during a round in Port Douglas Australia. Hit my ball on the edge of a lake, crocodile was sitting in the water about 2 metres away looking straight at me. Was the quickest shot I've ever played in my life. After the round was talking with some locals and they were saying the crocs on the course are no danger to humans and had never attacked anyone. Wish had known that before the round!!!

brutal

i was at a cross country meet in high school and we started on a 3 hole course....for some reason, the guy on that hole decided to try and hit where we were, cracked one of the kids right in the back......it swelled up immediately, literally looked like a golf ball was under the skin, dimples and all

What I tell people who ask me if I play golf is similar to how you said it.

I tell them I play military golf. Left, right, left, right!
