Thumbs down Manager who makes a statement

Fredi Gonzales is a big joke.

Not sure if you have seen this - mostly a local story

Scott Olsen throws a fit and shows up the manager when he takes him out.

Today the Marlins announced

Scott Olsen (SP) has been suspended for two games for his actions last night. He will not miss a start and will pitch as scheduled Friday. What a joke!

I don't really care about the suspension but to suspend a guy when he won't play is funny stuff.

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins suspended left-hander Scott Olsen for two games without pay because of insubordination and conduct detrimental to the team, manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday.

Olsen

Gonzalez said Olsen's penalty stemmed from an incident Sunday after Olsen was relieved, but would not elaborate.

Olsen won Sunday against the Washington Nationals, giving up two runs and six hits in five innings. Gonzalez said the decision was made "collectively."

Olsen began serving the suspension Monday and will not miss his scheduled start Friday at home against the Cincinnati Reds. Olsen was not in the clubhouse Monday to comment on the suspension.

The suspension will cost him $4,153.01.

The Marlins starter is 7-7 with a 5.15 ERA this season. He was 12-10 with a 4.04 ERA in 2006.

Olsen has been in trouble in the past. He received a black eye last season from his friend and former teammate, reliever Randy Messenger, in an off-the-field incident in St. Petersburg, Fla.

In June, Olsen was fined an unspecified amount for making an obscene gesture toward fans in Milwaukee when he was removed from his start and making his way to the dugout.

The last player the Marlins suspended was pitcher A.J. Burnett at the end of the 2005 season.

Yeah you are right. That is punishment.

I guess when you play in front of 5-k fans you have to do something to get excited.

Lmao

News: Florida Marlins pitcher Scott Olsen was arrested early Saturday morning in Aventura, Fla., the Miami Herald reports. Police said the third-year Marlins starting pitcher refused to pull over during a traffic stop. He was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest with violence and fleeing and eluding a police officer.

Analysis: Olsen, who is just coming off a team-imposed suspension, is very doubtful for his next start on July 25 at Arizona. At this time, it is still unclear what consequences lay ahead for the young hurler, but we recommend reserving him in all leagues until further notice.
