May have been the most watched Super Bowl ever

Very preliminary findings from 49 of the nation's biggest markets showed that ratings for this year's Super Bowl, with the New York Giants' thrilling win over the New England Patriots, were up 6 percent over last year's big game, according to Nielsen Media Research on Monday.Experts say those numbers indicate the game has a strong shot at being the most-watched Super Bowl of all time, and the second most-watched broadcast ever.
The game, broadcast on Fox, had a 44.7 rating and 66 share, Nielsen said. That's up from the 42.0 rating and 63 share in metered markets last year. Nielsen did not immediately have an estimate of how many people watched the game.
The metered market average this year was also missing Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and Dallas due to Nielsen delays.
The most-watched telecast of all time was the 1983 finale of "M-A-S-H," seen by 106 million people. The most-watched Super Bowl ever was the 1996 game between Dallas and Pittsburgh, with 94.1 million people.

Jack loves that MASH

Super Bowl though was the 2nd most watched broadcast over the last few days

Over 200 million Chinese watched the Houston-Milwaukee NBA game on Saturday, or about double the expected Super Bowl audience

I must confess that although I'm not Chinese, I was bored Saturday night, the wife went to the movies and for some reason I actually watched that game too, lol

It was a great game.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers were just as good as the GIANTS. Tom was straight--no squinty eyes!

A couple good commercials too.

Wake up, Rev.

First of all, DaveNZ is from New Zealand, not Austrailia. You might have been able to realize this based on his CM handle; or not.

Secondly, I find it hard to believe that your local Korean announcers did a better job than Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

I'm sure that the Seoul "dudes in studio" did you and the rest of your expat buddies proud.

How do they know how many people really watched?
Do they still have Neilson families that have a magic box that monitors what they watch? Or do they conduct surveys?
Can't be very scientific in any case.

Judge he was talking to me and I am from Australia so you have to give him a Pass...

We had it on 3 channels here.. One was Joe Buck and the fox team with everything including that TACO BELL commericial that made me hungry.. lol...

THE Other was Joe Buck and local ads on the Sports channel and the other BROADCAST was the International NFL team which was bad.. It was the broadcast for the rest of the world and had more camera angles but they do not call 1st, 2nd and 3rd downs so you know where you are in the play instead they talk about how winnng the superbowl changes your lives or how Brady looks like a Deer in headlights..(stunned)...

Was a Great superbowl but Joe buck and MLB is what I like ..!!! He may be short but knows his stuff.....
