Mcguire a cheater. Should'nt his record be given an asterisk?

i am sorry but i held my toungue long enough on this issue. first, i will admit to being a yankees fan and those who know me well knows that my all time fave baseball player is mickey mantle, but i also liked roger maris too. have'nt roger suffered enough disses against him even though he was a great ball player for him to get dissed from the grave in 2010.

i remember when he came to the yankees and beat out mickey that year for the mvp award because he was a great player and a solid batter too. the media and the fans chastized him for it cuz everybody loved mantle and i can understand that he was mr new york and much more charismatic. then in 1961 roger and mickey goes on a hitting spree to break babe ruth's single season home run record and they are both handed a raw deal by comm ford frick (who was the ghost writer for the babe) when he changed the rules that any record broken needed to be done in the same amount of gms in the middle of the season. that was an expansion year so if a record was broken in more than 154 games there would be an asterisk placed on it. that was so bogus cuz when the babe broke the record he did in more games played than the guy who had the record before him and nobody said anything. the race for the record was really close and roger started to pull ahead of mickey and the media dogged him every chance they got, and the fans were even worse booing him and making death threats and calling his home threatening to kidnap his kids. this was so much pressure on marris his hair started falling out, smoking 4 packs of cigs a day, i will even say that he died prematurely because of all this crap that went on in 1961. mickey then got a hip infection and couldnt play towards the end, and the fans kind of laid off marris after that, but the media kept on dogging him. in the 154th gm the tm rallied to give roger an extra at bat in the 8th inning and the orioles did a pitching change and brought in hoyt wilhelm (who threw a nasty knuckle ball, and they brought out the big catchers mit which is illegal now). he broke the record on the last gm of the season against boston tracy stallard was the pitcher, but friggin frick enforced that asterisk rule on him taking away any recognition of the accomplishment.
now we got mcguire admitting seroid use in 1998 when he broke the marris record and even though bonds wont admit it he was on the juice when he broke it in 2001.
MY COMPLAINT IS WHERE IS THE FRIGGIN ASTERISKS FOR THESE CHEATERS!! the asterisk was removed in 1992 ,marris died in 1985 never knowing the record was his. has'nt this poor guy been through enough! both mcgwire & bonds were cheaters it is no wonder why mcgwire broke it in the 135th game and the same goes for bonds too.

now we got mcgwire crying like a lil beyotch on tv about how bad it is to use steroids (well it didnt stop you back then ya beeyotch). this whole thing really steams me up when i think about it, all players who was on the juice when they broke records needs to be given an asterisk so that it will always be known that they were on the juice when they did it.

i love baseball but this kind of hipocrasy in the mlb really rubs me the wrong way. hal chase & pete rose are banned from baseball but not ty cobbs who did it also because cobb threatened to go to the paper and drop names of other players who layed down in games so the league gave him a pass!!

If there's an asterisk next to McGwire then there is for every team that has won a world series since the 80's

blb, uva, pb20, you three guys know that is totally a different issue. comon man!!

spliff he was smokin like a train bro, thats how much pressure maris was under..

upinya maris was not a cheater, i think you misunderstood me brother..

guzzi i have no idea what you even saying lol..

huscroft i disagree cuz 1 guy does'nt win a game, but when it comes down to individual records i think it should be done because it is a reflection on the individuals achievements..

I'm more pissed that he lied.

He hit his 62nd on 9/8/98...I was in the delivery room w/ my wife as she gave birth to our 1st. I wanted to name him Zachary McGuire. Thank God she talked me out of that.

As far as and asterisk, we should asterisk the whole era, IMHO.

If you put an asterisk next to McGuire`s name, then you have to put an asterisk next to everyone`s name who got caught using a banned substance that MLB turned the other cheek to.

The pitchers Big Mac was facing were just as juiced up as he was, so I don't see what the big deal is.
