Microsoft bids $44.6 billion for Yahoo

REDMOND, Wash. -- Microsoft Corp. offered to buy search engine operator Yahoo Inc. for $44.6 billion in cash and stock in a move to boost its competitive edge in the online services market.

Microsoft bid $31 per share for Yahoo, representing a 62 percent premium to Yahoo's closing stock price Thursday.

if they do buy it, i sure the hell hope they don't fuk with it and make it similar to hotmail and msn websites...yahoo has a web site for each country in the local language...microsoft doesnt and when you access the sites the ip address is picked up and it gives you the websites in that country's language for where you are using the computer...pisses me off royally
