yep - another media person that has never even played a sport and is being given a stage to talk about it. beginning to hate this **** only listen occasionally when my local is on a commercial

I actually use to like him but here lately he just stirs the pot for something to talk about. All this farve shit. I never heard him say anything just media blowing it up. Now this laker joke.

I've never understood the argument that you have to had played sports to talk about it. I think most of the ex-jocks that become announcers (not all, there are some good ones) who just spew cliches and locker-room speak like it's gospel are much more annoying.

Besides, if you have to have done something to be qualified to cover it, who gets to cover a murder?

I understand what you are saying and I totally agree... just pointing out that this is an instance where he has no f'in clue what he is talking about - specifically b/c he never played. I mean NEVER played...

Dude prob didn't even play little league...

And on the other side of the coin... there are many former athletes that I despise as announcer/commentators...

to name a few:
Emmit Smith
Deion Sanders
Phil Simms
Boomer Esiason

I could go on... and on... and on...

I listen to Mike and Mike most mornings because they are better than the guy on the other channel (a former athlete, FWIW).

I prefer to pick up the Dan Partick Show around 9am. After that, sportstalk radio in Orlando bites with great vigor. The local guys (I can't bring myself to call them local "talent") are prtty weak. And while ESPN Radio might be decent at night, the station that carries it is so weak it's hard to get. I've literally had trouble picking up their station when parked outside their studio.

And any conversation about radio guys who suck (non-athlete division) starts and ends with Jim Rome.

Mike and Mike are OK, they do have a HUGE east coast bias though. I know they are in Connecticut and all, but they are a national show and don't even attempt to be national.

Between Mike Greenberg in the morning and Jason Smith at night, I am so SICK of hearing about the FREAKING JETS
